Heron Highlights (11/12) is a weekly column to communicate positive things happening at Brantley County High School.

If you have questions, comments, suggestions or story ideas, please contact Mrs. Cummings at 462-5121 or email amy.cummings@brantley.k12.ga.us.

Quote of the Week

“The more credit you give away, the more will come back to you. The more you help others, the more they will want to help you.”

                                                             Brian Tracy

Needy Seniors

We still have seniors who are unable to afford their senior expenses.  If you are willing to make a cash donation please contact Ms. Hammond or Mrs. Cummings (462-5121). Any extra funds collected will go to towards purchasing other senior items (yearbook, senior shirt, announcement, memory book, and tassel).  Ms. Hammond and I would like to thank those who have stepped up to the plate and adopted a needy senior or donated money.  These students are more excited about the fact someone cared enough to “adopt” them than they were about getting their cap and gown paid for.  This class has many homeless/unaccompanied youth who did not think having a cap and gown was a reality.  We thank you in advance, as these children’s lives have been changed forever.  They have worked long and hard for graduation and they deserve it!

A Special Thank You

Thank you for your generous donations: Mr. and Mrs. Davison, Herff-Jones, Thomas Gibson (Class of 77’), Hoboken Elementary School, Nahunta Elementary School Student Council to the Attendance: It Pays! Incentive Program, BCHS Teacher and Employee of the Month Program or BCHS Needy Students. If you are interested in donating to the student attendance incentive, please contact Mrs. Cummings at 462-5121.

Attention Parents: Call in Absences

If your child is going to be absent please call the school between 8a.m and 8:20a.m. with the students’ name, dates out and reason.  This will help out tremendously with daily parental contact. The school office number is 462-5121.

HOSA (Health Occupational Students of America)

The BCHS HOSA club will help sponsor a Blood Drive on December 6, during the Brantley County Christmas Parade.  The Mobile Blood Drive Van will be located somewhere in downtown Brantley County.  The Blood Drive will be on a “walk-in” basis. More information will follow.

School Supplies

Parents, please make sure your children have adequate pencils and paper.  Some students are running low.  We do not want lack of school supplies to become a barrier for any of our students.  If you are a business that has pencils (with your logo) and are willing to donate in exchange for free advertisement, please send them to BCHS in the attention of Mrs. Cummings. I will make sure they go to students/teachers that need them.

Congratulations to October Teacher/Employee of Month

Mr. E

Joseph Brian Eichfeld was born and raised in New Jersey.  He has lived in Georgia since 1996. He has taught at BCHS for 13 years.  He currently teaches 7 chemistry classes and is the assistant wrestling coach.  He has one daughter named Kayleigh Sky who attends Waynesville Elementary School.  He is engaged to Ms. Tara Thrift of Schlatterville.  He is an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, enjoys academia, music, sports and riding his Harley Davidson!

Ms. Denise Smith

Mrs. Smith has served as the Special Education Clerk at BCHS for the past four years. She is responsible for scheduling meetings with parents and teachers and reviewing/distributing records. She enjoys being a part of BCHS and is a 1982 graduate. She loves being close to her family. The most satisfying part of her job includes the students she has daily contact with and the Special Education Teachers she works with.
