Heron Highlights (7/1) is a weekly column to communicate positive things happening at Brantley County High School.

If you have questions, comments, suggestions or story ideas, please contact Mrs. Cummings at 462-5121 or email amy.cummings@brantley.k12.ga.us. Due to a death in the family, I will be out of town.  You are more than welcome to email me. I will respond when I can. Thank you.

Quote of the Week

"July Fourth means a lot to me as an American, ... It is a patriotic day. It is not particularly about WWII or any war. It just shows a patriotic way of life we really should celebrate not just on Independence Day but every day.”

                                                                                                                         Robert Davies

"Thank-you to all those women and men who have served our country to ensure our freedom. Thank-you to my personal hero, my grandfather, Raymond James Lacey, who passed away in peace last week. The 565 days you spent overseas in WWI in hand -to-hand combat will never be forgotten. I am so proud to be your granddaughter. I could only hope to accomplish in a lifetime of what you did in 5 minutes in WWI. I miss you dearly and am glad I was there with you when you went to see the Angels." - Amy Cummings

Erin’s Angel’s

In memory of Erin Davison, the special Erin’s Angels Fund has been established at Brantley County High School.  These funds will go to the seniors in need each year.  Examples of expenses can include (but is not limited to) senior expenses, cap and gown, yearbook, grad night, senior pictures, clothes, school supplies, dental work, food, etc. This fund was established by Mr. Randy and Mrs. Pat Davison who want to honor Erin’s memory by helping those students who Erin would have taken under her wing if she were here today. Donations can be made to any administrator at BCHS or Mrs. Cummings. Checks can be made to BCHS.

How Can You Help Today? Listed below are just a few of the ways you can help the Erin's Angels Fund TODAY.

•           Cash Donations (Checks made to BCHS, a tax receipt will be provided).

•           Adopt-a-Student 2009 -2010 (Get matched with a child and buy school clothes, school supplies, etc.).

•           Dental Care – Locate a dentist willing to donate a free cleaning.

•           Do One Nice Thing – A gentle smile, a bear hug or kind words (to someone you know or a stranger.) This causes a snowball effect and can brighten the lives of many. Need ideas? www.helpother.org

•           Become of one of “Erin’s Angels.” Volunteer for different community service activities.

•           Keep the front of BCHS clean and litter free! Erin’s Memorial Bench is located in the front of the school. Let’s keep this area beautiful!

•           Clothes Donations (Boys/Girls, All Sizes).

•           School Supplies

•           Hygiene Items (tooth paste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, feminine hygiene products, shaving cream, etc.)
